Norman Global Logistics are using HaulTech’s vehicle CCTV and tracking solutions to protect drivers and comply with the Direct Vision Standard.
Norman Global Logistics are a well-renowned freight company that provides solutions across the globe. Over their 52 years in service, the company has expanded its operations to include 232 network locations across the world. They have a strong workforce of 129 personnel who move 210,000 tonnes of freight a year. Their large scale workforce meant the company were at a huge risk of coming up against numerous false claims, unprecedented fuel costs and potentially poor driver performance. With this in mind, the supply chain experts opted for a vehicle CCTV and tracking system from HaulTech.
HaulTech’s multi-award-winning TrakMan solution will allow Norman Global to reduce its operational costs. TrakMan has a proud heritage and has aided many hauliers in reducing their fuel costs, over the last 30 years. The system is constantly updated and provides driver behaviour scorecards as well as vehicle performance analysis, which the haulier can use to make improvements in their MPG and reduce overall fuel burn. With the suggested improvements, not only will they positively refine their bottom line, but drivers will benefit and learn from the driver behaviour scorecards.
By using HaulTech’s hardware solutions, Norman Global have also become Direct Vision Standard Compliant (DVS). Hauliers who do not have DVS equipment and the subsequent certification will receive a £130 fine whilst the company receives a £550 penalty charge notice. The Direct Vision Standard requires HGV’s weighing 12 tonnes or more, travelling through Greater London to have the following equipment:
- Blindspot elimination through a connected camera system
- Audible left-turn vehicle manoeuvring warning
- Proximity warning sensors installed on the near side of the vehicle
- External pictorial aids to warn vulnerable road users of the hazards of the nearside of the vehicle
